Cleanup of the Castle

Hi all,

We take posession of the clubhouse on Thursday December 20. We want to get right to work fixing it up so we are ready for the second half! With any luck and a little effort we will be ready to go and host the UFC on December 29.

Call Morgan if you can help out on Saturday Dec 22 or Sunday Dec 23. This is YOUR clubhouse so make sure you come out and help!

Great job on the 36-5 win over UBC this week, but we will have to play even better to beat TRU Kamloops in Kamloops on Saturday September 22. Please note we are hoping to change the start time to 11:30, so keep your eyes on the website for info! As usual we are always short going to Kamloops, especially in the front row. Please make it if you can!

The U-17s are chomping at the bit for their season opener this weekend! They start the campaign in Abbotsford on Sunday, September 23. The game will be played at 1pm at Exhibition Park... Get out there and support the next generation of rugger in Chilliwack!

Most of the guys are registered and paid at least half their dues... Please try to get the $ in to me ASAP.

We are co-hosting an alumni dinner and fundraiser for the Save the Greenspace at Cultus Lake on Oct 13 (after our home game vs. Abby). Tickets are $15 and proceeds go to fund the legal fight against the destruction of the playing field. Come out and support a worthy cause while meeting the alumni of the club!

It's been an exciting summer, but things are just heating up! Our U-17 team is taking shape and looking ready to rock, and our Senior team is ready to make the Provincials again and vow to improve on our performance there!

The Senior Crusaders start their season with a home game against the UBC team at 11:30 on September 15. The game will be played at Townsend Park.

The U-17 will open their schedule on Sep 23, but time, place and opponent are not yet set.

Practices are 7:30-9:30 Tuesday and Thursday nights at Townsend Park. Please bring $$ for your dues and personal jersey (if bought).

As you know we have qualified for the Provincial Championship Tournament in Williams Lake this weekend. Turns out we are taking the bus, so if you are interested get ahold of me and let me know what your plans are.

We are staying in 100 Mile House on Friday as no rooms were available. It's a one hour drive to the fields from there and we play Williams Lake at 10AM and Ridge Meadows at 1PM on Saturday. We have a game on Sunday as well (against who and for what place depends on our seeding after Saturday). Saturday night there is an optional banquet and poker tournament; $25 gets you into both. Hotels are $25 per person per night if you are sharing 4 to a room; $50 per if you are only 2.

Provincial Championship bound!!

Great job on the 33-30 victory over Gibsons to earn a berth at the Saratoga Cup Tournament on May 5 & 6th gents!

Please arrange things so you can attend Williams Lake that weekend as we will need all the bodies we can get to challenge for the Cup! If you can get the day off the bus will leave Friday AM (hopefully most players can). If not, there are a limited number of seats available in Matt Myer's minivan on Friday night. Contact him ASAP to arrange a ride.

I will be contacting all players in the near future to confirm availability and mode of transport you will be taking!

Don't forget we are hosting Port Alberni on Saturday April 28th. We also have the team dinner that night at the Metropolitan Grill, so arrange to get your better half out to enjoy a great dinner!

A win will catapult us into third place ahead of TRU Kamloops and Port Alberni; a loss means 5th place and possibly missing the playoffs... This truly is a make-or-break weekend, so ensure you can come along and help the team!

Fields are open tonight despite the rain, so see you at Townsend Park at 7:30. We MAY have the option of playing in Kamloops this Saturday rather than April 7. Let me know if you are available...

Make sure you sell some poker tickets for the fundraiser on March 31. If we can not sell out 60 seats we are not able to buy new jerseys next season!!!!! See Luca to get tickets.

Hi all,

Gorgerous day out and the fields are open despite a forecast for rain tonight. We really need everyone out as we need to get set for the game in Ridge Meadows this Saturday!! We need to bump them off to move up the standings as we head into the stretch drive here.

Practice starts at 7:30 at Townsend Park.

Middle school coaches: we will have a meeting at Jerseys after practice to discuss the first day of practice and find out how things went.

Fields closed by snow

Hey all,

No practice tonight as the City has closed the fields. We will be back at it next Tuesday and Thursday, with practices at 7:30. We travel to Ridge Meadows for a big game on March 10.

Please contact me if you are involved in the coaching clinic this weekend, or interested in taking the clinic.

Good showing by all this weekend! Special thanks to Cripps and Richard Gosick who played for the Rogues. It takes special guys to play against their mates and I think it shows what kind of character both these guys have!!

There will be no practice this Tuesday, but we will see you at 7:30 on Thursday!

Don't forget that the Middle School program starts up next week!!! The coaching clinic is next Saturday and Sunday at GW Graham. Please let me know if you are interested in participating, as this will qualify you to coach down the road if you are interested. We are going to work out some sort of dues rebate for some or all of the $165 fee.

We have a big test against Ridge Meadows on March 10, so let's see lots of faces at practice the next two weeks!!!

Rogues this weekend

Gents,

We are hosting the Rogues at Townsend Park this weekend. 1pm kickoff at Townsend Park as usual. Please be on the field ready to go at 12:20. Come by early to help set up.

We need all hands on deck as we are a little banged up. The Rogues already notified me that they are short players too due to a spate of injuries follwing a dirty beating at the hands of Ridge Meadows. There will be lots of rugby to go around, so more the better!

We have a bye week March 3, so come on out and have some fun!

Tough luck against Port Alberni this weekend. Guess we still have lots to work on! I just spoke to the City and confirmed that our fields are open tonight.

The City has closed the fields gents... No practice tonight. I called Port Alberni and they confirmed that the game is on no matter how much rain they get.

The bus LEAVES Jerseys at 6:30AM, and Mission guys can get picked up at Crossroads in Abby at 6:45. We have to be at Horseshoe Bay by 8AM for the 8:30 ferry, so there is no room for being late! Please bring your $70 which covers ferry, bus and 4 to a hotel room.

Moral victory for the Crusaders

Great game by everyone this past weekend! Considering that the Kats have outscored us 110-7 in our past two meetings a 13-7 loss that we were in right until the end is a huge moral victory!! I know not everyone got to play (including me) but it was a tight game and the lineup on the field was doing well. Keep coming out to practice and I am sure playing time will come in Port Alberni and against the Rogues...

Speaking of which, we face another stiff challenge in Port Alberni this weekend. The bus is leaving Jerseys at 6:30 sharp as we are catching the 8:30 ferry. We have a hotel in Port Alberni, and the Black Sheep have invited us to a Valentines Day party at their clubhouse, so it will be an epic road trip! Please bring $70 for ferry, bus and hotel to Morgan this week to save the hassle on the weekend.

If you have family or work obligations and have to return Saturday night please let Morgan know as he is arranging a carpool for those that need it. We really need all hands on deck to get another win in a tough town, so please try to make it!!!

Don't forget practice is 7pm on Tuesday and 7:30 on Thursday at Townsend Park.

Kats this weekend

Gents,

Great game against Gibsons on the weekend. If we play the Kats tough like that and keep our mouths shut so we don't get penalties we should do well.

We are hosting the Kats RFC this week, 1pm at Townsend Park on Saturday, February 10th. Please be on the field, ready to go by 12:15.

Don't forget practice starts at 7:30 Thursday night at Townsend Park!

I need to know who is coming to Port Alberni by Friday! Please email me or call to let me know. It will cost about $60 per person for the ferry, bus and hotel. There is a car load of guys going that have to return Saturday after the game, so let me know if that is your preference.

Hi all,

The weather forecast has improved, and we are on for Saturday. Please note that it is a NOON kickoff, so you need to be on the field at 11:15 for warm up. If you can, please show up at 9AM to help set up!!!!!!!!!

Don't forget the Superbowl Fundraiser at Jersey's on Sunday. Apparently the game starts at 3:30, but you might want to get there early for good seats. $10 gets a burger, fries, beer and appies. They will have good specials on for us as well. If you have gathered door prizes please include a business card or a note identifying the donors so I can prepare thank you letters.

Matt and the boys have rented ice at Prospera Centre 9-10AM on Sunday as well. Talk to him if you are interested.

Practice at Townsend Park starts at 7:30 tonight, so see you then!

Gents,
The weather forecast is great for the week ahead, so we should get both practices at Townsend Park for a change. Don't forget that practice starts at 7PM on Tuesdays and 7:30 on Thursdays.

Now the bad news... There is supposed to be a cold front moving in on Friday, bringing sub-zero daytime highs. If the ground is frozen our game will be off. Stay tuned for updates!!!

Hopefully the weather gods are with us, and it stays above freezing. If so, we will be playing the Gibsons Pigs at Townsend Park on Saturday, February 3rd. It will be a NOON kickoff to facilitate the ferry travel for Gibsons.

Don't forget the Superbowl fundraiser at Jerseys on Sunday, February 4th. Sell them tickets and tell people more are available at the door! We also need guys to gather door prizes from businesses you frequent! Make sure you see Luca if you need more tickets or to update him what is going on.

Lastly, there are a few guys who still owe dues. The club NEEDS this money to pay our CRU dues and insure the bus for the second half. Please get the $$ in to Morgan ASAP. I will be bringing reminder letters for the guilty parties...

Training at Bernard Elementary

Hi all,

I have confirmed that we will again have Bernard Elementary from 7-8pm on Thursday night. Make sure you bring a separate pair of gym shoes with non-marking soles (that way you don't track water in off the street making the floor slippery!). Bring a basket or soccer ball if you have one.

Don't forget the Superbowl Fundraiser is next Sunday, February 4th. Sell them tickets and collect prizes from sponsors because we need this to be a success!! We need to pack the place!

Fields Still Closed!!!

The ongoing rain means that practice fields are still closed. Anyone interested may meet at the Leisure Centre at the Landing at 7pm. I am waiting to hear that we have Bernard Elementary for dryland training on Thursday.

Neither the Rogues nor Rowers got back to me about a game this weekend, so I guess we aren't playing. Our first game against Gibsons is right around the corner (Feb 3rd), so hopefully everyone is staying in shape...

Don't forget the Superbowl Fundraiser is Sunday, Feb 4th at Jerseys Pub. Make sure you sell tickets and gather prizes so we make some $$$! We need to insure the bus and pay for the youth program in the Middle Schools this Spring.
